Catalonia - Spain - Agreement with

The Supreme Court of Catalonia signed an agreement to promote the culture of mediation between the judges Catalan

The president of the High Court of Catalonia (TSJC) , Maria Eugenia Allen, today signed a partnership agreement with two associations of magistrates to foster a culture of mediation and encourage the use of this-court to resolve disputes and reduce litigation.

Under the agreement, the High Court Catalan European Group of Magistrates for Mediation (GEMM) and the Association of Retired Judges and Magistrates of Spain (Amajan) will organize activities to promote, implement and develop the culture of mediation and arbitration.

While most mediations begin at the request of both parties by mutual agreement or one with the agreement of the other, once the conflict has come to court, a judge may order the parties to resolve their problem a mediator if the parties agree.

Alegret and associations also agreed to work for Spain to become an international mediation, a tool that allows extra- resolving conflicts in communities of properties, partners or legal entities in family conflict in schools.
